It is important to realize that there are certain types of jobs that MBA graduates from major MBA programs tend to pursue.

Generally speaking, graduates from top 50 schools go after popular industries such as financial services or management consulting.

Other options include careers at large (well-known) corporations - generally in established industries.

Fortune Magazine has ranked the "100 Top MBA Employers" since 2006. This ranking is based on "Where MBA students say they'd most like to work".

The most recent ranking shows where the top MBA careers are. Financial services (including private equity, investment banking, investment management, venture capital) and management consulting make up nearly 70% of all sectors.

We typically see that amongst the top spots are companies such as (in no particular order)...McKinsey & Company (management consulting), Bain & Company (management consulting), Goldman Sachs (financial services) Google (technology), and Apple (technology).

Others often include well-known companies such as...Walt Disney, Nike, Microsoft, Johnson & Johnson, General Electric, CitiGroup, Bank of America, JP Morgan, etc.

While the Fortune ranking shows where student would like to work, it does not actually tell where students are placed. For specific placement information, check with the business schools where you will be applying. They usually have actual career placement data based on where previous students took jobs.
